About the event

Join us for a walk in the woods focused on seeing and talking about Spring wildflowers. We will be mostly walking the "valley loop" trail, which passes through many habitats along the edge of a ravine, offering a large number of different wildflowers.

Location: on-site at “Iowisota”, 2472 IA-26, Lansing, Iowa.

Saunter will be guided by Linda Haugen.  Linda recently retired from a career as a forest health specialist with the US Forest Service. She grew up on the Iowisota property, moving here with her parents in 1968. Linda her husband Dennis built the new residence/retreat center and moved back to northeast Iowa in 2023. The Haugens have a wealth of knowledge about natural resources in general, and about Iowisota woodlands specifically.   Trees are their thing, but Linda also gets pretty excited about woodland plants and foraging.
